Happy Labor Day Weekend.

Spent Labor Day weekend hanging out with my boogerbutt (aka: Cailin) and some friends.

Got some sun. Ate some awesome food. Laughed a lot.

It was just what I needed.

Started off with Friday-Took Cailin to the doctor's office to get her
4 year old vaccinations.  We were there for 2 hours.  Sitting in a waiting room
for 2 hours with a restless child is NOT fun.  But, luckily Cailin was good for me
up until we finally got called and went to the nurses' station.
She saw the needles and proceeded to scream bloody f*cking murder
cry a little bit.  Then the nurse asked me to hold her down so
she could give the vaccines.

OH-KAY.

I think I still have bruises on my arms from her flailing about so wildly.
I'm sure I've traumatized my child from ever going back to the doctor's office,
again.

And I'm almost positive I got looks of death from every single parent
sitting in the waiting room with their children, waiting for vaccines as well.

Way to go, Cailin.

Saturday, went to a pool party at a friend's house, ate yummy ribs, potato and pasta salad,
and swam a whole lot,
in hot as crap weather.

Cailin loves her new floaties. (those crazy red blow up things on her arms)

She, however, does not like me letting go of her so she can float on her own
in the pool.

I'm RIGHT THERE within grabbing distance!  She needs to learn how to swim!

Towards the end of our time in the pool,
she started notscreamingbloodyf*ckingmurder,
*ahem* only whimpering a little bit,
when I would let go of her and coax her to kick her legs and swim towards me.

Then she didn't want to leave the pool.

Go figure.

Sunday I had to work split shifts.  Sunday is a blur to me, between all the dog poop and pee,
I pretty much went in, did my job, left. Ate lunch, took a nap, then repeat.

Monday, it started thunderstorming first thing in the morning.

LOVE THUNDERSTORMS!

Something about lightning and thunder makes me smile.

Other people, makes them cringe because they know the roads will be slammed,
their backyard will be flooded, power will go out....etc.

Me?
I love the smell of rain in the air.

It is probably my most favorite smell of all.....rain.

I am weird sometimes....or do you agree with me?

My friend AnnMarie asked me if I wanted to do a photoshoot for her portfolio-
a mommy-daughter photoshoot.

I was down - rain or sun!

So we went.

She did an awesome job! Cailin is a difficult model-she likes to take pictures on her
OWN terms....not anybody else's.

But regardless, we had fun.

Here's some snaps of that day.

And now it's back to work. Back to school.

Back to reality.

Just a reminder....

Just a reminder:  Choose a job/career that you love.
It may not be permanent, and it may be a stepping stone
to a better job/career, but make the best of it regardless.
We only have one life to live.
So Live It.

And I'm Back!

So a lot has happened in the last few months.  I won't go into details, so don't bother asking.  Just know that life threw me a lot of curveballs lately, and I have been rolling with the punches as best as I know how.  I've been told I'm a strong woman, and that I can handle this....just wish my mind and body would catch up to other people's expectations of me.

::::::What you've missed in the last 4 months:::::

POSITIVES

*I am now a full-time working mom.
*I've lost 25 lbs and can now fit into clothes I put in my "sentimental" pile of junk that I just didn't want to let go of.
*Cailin turned a whopping 4 years old! (going on 21....)
*I'm learning how to be independent-finally-at the age of 27.  Scary thought.
*I'm tossing out the garbage in my life....this goes for physical and mental and emotional garbage.

NEGATIVES

*Being a full-time working single mom has completely drained me physically, yet I still find a sliver of hope to hold onto for a brighter future for my daughter and I.
*The statement above is the main reason I've lost the 25 lbs. In 2 months.
*Learning how to be independent is a LOT harder the older you get - Lesson Learned.
*Making new friends is ALSO harder, the older you get.  I'm thinking it's a lost cause for the time being.
*My summer has completely flown by.  I've only been down to the pool twice. That's not normal for me.

I've decided to come back to this because it was something I started months ago, and I'm notorious for starting something and not completing it, or following through.  I'm a different person now, and I want to actually follow through on something I started....so, painful or not, having time or not, I will MAKE time to post something on here often.  Even if it's just a picture I took that inspired me, or something that made my day.

Today was Cailin's first day of "real" preschool.  The morning started out a bit like this....

Tango-Roo nudged Cailin's bedroom door with his nose,
realized the door creaked, so he just laid down
and waited like this for about 15 minutes,
until I decided to wake up the sleeping monster.

This was taken shortly after I woke her up.
Tango's face screams, "Why Did You Do That MOM!"
Cailin just looks confused that it's still dark outside.
My house is a zoo.

Shortly after, dressed and hair's brushed-
My boogerbutt is ready for her first
day of preschool.

Her first day went fairly well...her teachers told me she missed me.  But what kid doesn't miss their parents on the first day back at school?  Okay, maybe a 12 year old.... but to know that my little girl missed me made me smile....because I sure as hell missed her while I was at work all day.  At least we're on the same page.  Now if I could get her on my sleeping schedule.....we'd be all set!

Speaking of sleeping....it's way past MY bedtime.  Waking up at 4:45am everyday and not getting a nap in, really does a toll on your body.  If it doesn't, you're crazy.  Just sayin.

Until next time.....

Long week....

"Change only happens when the pain of holding on is greater than the fear of letting go."

Well, some stuff is going to be a little different for a while.  Don't want to mention anything on here yet, just wanted to let anyone who reads this know, things are going to be a little different for a while.  I might not be able to update as often as I'd like, but I will do my best.  Need prayers, and positivity in my life right now.  So if you're out there, please do that for me.  Thanks.  and Goodnight.

Much love,
Luci

Easter

Today was fun!  Went up to my parents' house in Orange County to celebrate Easter.  My family was there, minus a few who are either overseas or were sick, and we ate a LOT of good food and had a great time.

Don't have much else to say except share some pictures of this weekend.  :-)

How was your Easter?

My little booger ready to go to church.

OMG. Chocolate Disaster

So while I was blogging my last post, Cailin got into my purse and took out a Snickers bar I had been saving in there for a rainy day.  When I turned around, this is what I was faced with.

According to her, she is a "Chocolate Monster"!

*headdesk*

So I cleaned her up and this is the aftermath.
My little chocolate monster-turned clean.

It's very true....you know, what they say?  When your children are quiet, it means they're up to something.  Usually it's not something good.  Hahaha!

Okay.  Back to the joys of laundry!

Much Love,
Luci

Freaky Friday

Today's my day off and I'm planning on spending it productively.  Got up this morning bright and early, woke my baby girl up since she didn't have school today because it's Good Friday, got ourselves ready after breakfast and got OUT of the house.  Ran some errands (bank, groceries, etc), and then made our way to Downtown Pacific Beach.  There's an awesome store down there called Pangea, it has everything you can THINK of.  Can I just say how proud I am that I have a kid who won't touch things in stores, knock stuff over, run amuck?  I'm SO proud.  All I have to tell her is "Baby, just stay close to mommy and don't touch anything please."  and she's following me around like my shadow, gawking at all the pretty little things we see.  After Pangea, we were both hungry, so since it was our "Mommy/Daughter Day Out" I took her to McDonald's for some chicken nuggets (Filet o' Fish for me), and a strawberry lemonade, then made our way home.  I'm thinking of spending the rest of the day doing laundry (yuck), washing dishes (even more Yuck), putting something out for dinner, and then relaxing catching up on some dvr'd shows and playing some COD.  Yes, I'm a nerd.  Bite me.

Here's how my week went:

The Positives:
+Got my paycheck. Woot!
+Lots of hours at work. Puppies puppies puppies!
+Started this blog, and have kept up with it so far.
+Making some kick ass Carrot Cake cookies for Easter Sunday at my parents.
+Looking forward to spending Easter with my family again this year!
+Feeling more positive everyday.  This is a difficult task for me!

The Negatives:
-Cailin having an ear infection. Dealing with a sick and whiney 3 year old=not fun.
-Spent a quarter of my paycheck already.  Booo.
-Not enough sleep.  Enough said.
-Awkward learning how to fill my tires up with air.  Yes, I'm THAT much of a girl.
-Got scratched on my throat by a cat at work.

My week's playlist:

1. Rolling in the Deep - Adele
2. Good People - Jack Johnson
3. Price Tag - Jessie J
4.  The Cave - Mumford and Sons
5. Fidelity - Regina Spektor
6.  This - Darius Rucker
7. Stupid Boy - Sarah Buxton
8. Daisy Cutter - 311
9.  What the Hell - Avril Lavigne
10.  Say - John Mayer

I listen to a variety of stuff, (as noted above), and anyone who listens to one of my mixed cds usually tells me it's the MOST random cd they've ever heard.  Meh.  I don't like to limit myself to just one band, or one genre of music.  I like listening to almost everything, and I usually find something to relate to in every song on my IPod.  This just happens to be this week's favorite songs for me…old and new.

What's up with this weather, so-cal?  It goes from being freakin' frigid, to the sun showing it's face and warmth for a couple of days, then back to cold chilly weather.  Enough of the bipolarness, weather!  Give us some freakin' sun and heat! It's almost summer, for God's sake.  I want to be able to lay out in my baby pool in the backyard with a daiquiri in my hand.  No, seriously.

Overall, I'm just glad this week is over.  Tomorrow I work all day (yeah, boo to work on a Saturday, but I need the hours), but Sunday morning we're driving up to my family's house in Orange County.  Looking forward to that.  So with that, I'm signing off for now.

Much Love,
Luci
